Knowledge Organisers

Times Tables

The expectation is that children in Year 5 are fluent in their recall of the times tables facts up to 12 x 12 and the  corresponding division facts.
Regular practise and review helps keep skills sharp.

There are many different ways of learning these such as: web-based games (such as TTRS), singing and rote format.

Communication

We love to keep you up to date with what we are doing in class and you will find regular updates on our Class Dojo pages.  If you wish to speak to your child’s class teacher, please make an appointment via the school office or through Class Dojo.

We are looking forward to a fantastic year and thank you in advance for all the support you give to your child and their learning 😊

Autumn term curriculum overview Year 5

Year 5 Long Term Overview 2021 to 2021

Nurturing Hearts Week - we wore odd socks to show how unique we all are at the beginning of a week focusing on anti-bullying.

Greenpeace Talk - we were so lucky to have Mr Lancaster from Greenpeace talking to us via TEAMs about the amazing variety of animals and plants that live in the rainforests and what we can do to help save them.

Term 2 - Is it too late to save the rainforests? We are reading 'The Explorer' by Katherine Rundell, set in the Amazon Rainforest as a stimulus for our writing and are passionate about preventing deforestation already!

Year 5 began to study Andy Warhol in art and completed class mosaics of his face.

October: Black History Month - we learnt about many great women of black heritage in history and produced some beautiful information pages.

Term 1 - Why were the Vikings lords of the sea? We enjoyed reading 'Viking Boy' as our class text, wrote wonderful character descriptions and discovered how powerfully shaped longships really were!

We began Year 5 by reading a beautiful picture book called 'The Fox and the Star'. We created artwork and wrote our own stories called 'The Star and the Fox'.
