Weekly Home Learning Plans: School Closure

These activities include certain resources, such as White Rose, Times Table Rock Stars (TTRS) and Bug Club to add to our suggested learning menu based on LSP recommendations; to ensure that all of our children receive equal access to experiences, learning opportunities and resources. There will be a mixture of practical tasks, online games and pencil and paper activities.  Some will be printable, however you do not need to print them.  As long as your child has access to a screen to see the instructions or task, most of the activities can be completed on paper you have at home.  It might be useful if you have a few basic stationery items available such as a notebook, paper, pencils, ruler, rubber and colouring pencils or crayons.  Other items such as dice and counters could be "borrowed" from a family board game.

Whilst continuing with pencil and paper academic studies is important, please also remember that children can learn new skills and knowledge from a variety of other more practical experiences.  Your children will love to spend time playing and exploring outside in your garden, cooking and baking with you, being creative with toys and art materials, playing instruments and taking daily exercise both indoors and out.

Have fun and enjoy learning together!

Welcome back Year 5!

We hope you had a wonderful Easter with your families. We return in Term 5 for our third week of home learning. It has been so lovely to hear and see what you have been up to on Class DoJo!

Below are the activities for the coming week. After updated guidance from the LSP we are using Whiterose resources for maths which offer a video explanation if you click the link on the plan, along with a daily activity to complete. (There is no need to print, just write down the answers and check at the end.) We are also providing additional maths activities for children that require a challenge alongside daily morning maths. The resources for Literacy are from the Hamilton Trust and focus on instructional writing, which we are yet to cover in Year 5, although children will have looked at writing instructions in previous years.

We would usually begin our Science Space based topic 'To Inifinity and Beyond' in Term 5 so get star gazing and look at our Science suggestions each week!

Also, take a moment to look at our internet safety guidance on the website as this has been updated.

Thank you parents for your continued support. Just a quick reminder that any learning we offer should be viewed as a menu to choose from with no pressure to complete everything. Our aim is to give tasks to reduce the work load of home schooling, not to add to it. Please don't hesitate to contact us on Class DoJo with any questions! We can't wait to see where your learning takes you this week!
