Lime Class page
Welcome to the page for Lime class!
My name is Miss Kerlogue and I am teaching Lime class this year. I am new to the school having been teaching abroad for two years. It has been so lovely to meet the children and to welcome them back into school!
We have had a busy first couple of weeks getting settled back into school and into our newly decorated classroom. I will upload some photos to the photo session below shortly!
We have been focusing on the lovely book 'Here we are' by Oliver Jeffers. The children have loved exploring the book and have written letters to special people, painted beautiful watercolour pictures of the sky and have written their own song lyrics based on Louis Armstrong's 'What a wonderful world', amongst other things! I will upload some samples of the children's work on 'Here we are' shortly. You will be able to find this by clicking the globe link further down the page.
You will find information on our class routines further down the page; I will also send reminders via class Dojo. Please feel free to also contact me via Dojo should you have any questions.
Looking forward to a great term!
Lime Class Info
We encourage the children to read at home, 5 times per week. This term, we are using reading record sheets for the children to bring home and record their reading at home. The children will bring their reading sheet home on Mondays and should return it to school the following Monday. On this sheet, you will find further information about reading at home, supporting your child with their reading and access to Bug Club.
Spellings and mental Maths
The children have been given a sheet of their spelling lists for the term. We will test spellings in school on Thursdays, beginning with the 'week 1' list on Thursday 17th September.
The children will be continuing with the diamond challenge from the point they got to last year. We will be testing this on Thursdays, starting on Thursday 17th September. Please support your child in practising their times tables (and related division facts!) at home to prepare for this each week.
Mrs Knight will be teaching Games on Friday mornings in the Autumn term. For the lessons on the first two Fridays of term (11th September and 18th September), the children should just bring in trainers for PE to wear with their school uniform. From Friday 25th September onwards, children should come to school wearing their full PE kit. Please make sure your child has appropriate clothing for outdoor PE (jogging bottoms, fleece and/or waterproof coat).
Earrings need to be removed for every sporting activity (including swimming) for Health & Safety reasons. If you wish your child to keep their earrings in, please obtain and complete a permission slip from the school office.
If you have any queries, please do contact me on class Dojo.
