A great start for the Dragonflies Sept 2020
The Dragonflies have made a great start to their school year.  They have settled in so quickly and have already started to make new friends.  We have been spending lots of time exploring our outside space as we've been so lucky with the weather, and we've been able to enjoy time on the field.  We've had lots of fun running around and playing group games (we love 'Duck Duck Goose') and have also enjoyed singing some action rhymes outdoors.

In the classroom we've especially enjoyed exploring role play, the construction toys, the Dolls' house and the puzzles.  We love dressing up as firefighters and policemen in the courtyard and using the walkie-talkies! The sand tray, digging area and the cars are also very popular with the Dragonflies.

We've been counting and exploring numbers using Numicon and dice, and love playing matching games. We have been talking about what each number represents and what numbers are.  We've just started to learn sounds in preparation for reading and writing, and have been brilliant at thinking of things that begin with those sounds. We have loved mark making, exploring different shapes and taking our pencils for a walk. Our hand, wrist and arms muscles are going to be super strong.

We also love listening to lots of stories (look at our home page for our focus book) and looking at books, either on our own to relax or in groups.

What a brilliant start we've had - we can't wait to have more adventures and to get to know each other better as the year progresses smiley.

We have been learning about lifecycles. We are eggspecting chicks soon, they are cosy and warm in their incubator. These are rare breed chicks, who have been reared to help keep these rare breed numbers growing. Look at our amazing work about the chicks lifecycle. πŸ‘πŸ»πŸ£

Outdoor learning 5th Nov

We went into our outdoor classroom after learning about bonfire night. We were building dens and a (pretend) bonfire In the sunshine on the 5th Nov.

Exploring our faces and drawing our friends. We looked closely at our friends, and thought carefully about where their features are on our drawing.

Our first welly walk 🌟

Our Wonderful world. We have been reading the brilliant book: β€˜Here we are’ by Oliver Jeffers. We went outside to relax and enjoy our surroundings after listing to the clip with David Attenborough, what a wonderful world.
