Our Vision for the Whiteoak's Curriculum
At the Whiteoak Academies, our curriculum is the heart of who we are and everything we do. Guided and shaped by our whole school ethos, vision and values, we strive to design and build a curriculum that gives our children a deep and connected knowledge and understanding of who they are, where they have come from and what they might become.
As a family of schools, we seek to deliver a curriculum that inspires and excites all of our children so that they can be the very best they can be in their work and in their play. Together, our children are encouraged to become independent, reflective and resilient – recognising strength in themselves and others and developing perseverance in the face of challenge. Ultimately, we seek to build a curriculum that opens a doorway to the world, helping our children to become hopeful, compassionate, respectful young people, ready to create a thriving future for themselves and for others.
Our Curriculum Aims
The aims of our curriculum are that each and every child at the Whiteoak Academies thrives by becoming:
- Knowledgeable & Curious
- Respectful & Compassionate
- Independent & Fulfilled
Our Curriculum Design
Our generation plants the trees, another gets the shade.
At the Whiteoak Academies, we strive to ensure our curriculum and enrichment activities are designed to help our children develop strong roots with an excellent grasp of the basics needed for success. Ensuring that children are successful academically is a crucial part of education but also of paramount importance is that they also learn how to live successful and happy lives where they are informed, courageous advocates of the things that matter to them. At our family of schools, our curriculum is designed to give our children the opportunity to explore philosophical questions and important issues whilst considering how they can make a difference.
Our curriculum is designed and sequenced to give our children deep, coherent knowledge that will empower them to know where they came from, who they are and what they might become. Knowledge and understanding is developed and revisited within year groups, across subjects and throughout the school. As our children grow and build their knowledge and understanding, they are supported and challenged to apply what they know in increasingly complex ways. Ultimately, our curriculum is designed with the aim that our children know more, remember more and are able to do more with their knowledge as they progress through our family of schools.
