What is a school governor?

School governors are people from the school’s community who wish to make a positive contribution to children’s education.

The Whiteoak Academies have a very active and dedicated group of governors who work closely in partnership with staff, parents, pupils and the community. They give support, promote high standards and ensure a high quality of education for all pupils at the school.

Their responsibilities are strategic relating to the policies and ethos of the school in such matters as finance, staffing, curriculum, premises, discipline, admission and exclusion of pupils, and in relations with the local authority, parents and the community.

If you wish to contact a Governor, in the first instance please speak to the school office staff.

Meetings of the Local Governing Board are open to the public and meeting minutes are available on request from the school office.
